"I am fired up for this weekend. I always love racing at Dover International Speedway because the track is insane. For the size that it is, the track makes you feel like you are going faster than we do anywhere else on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. We have done a lot of work back at the GMS Racing shop since Charlotte Motor Speedway, and I think we are going to turn our season around this weekend.”

Joey Coulter and the No. 21 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet team collected their first top-five finish of the 2014 season on Friday in the Lucas Oil 200 at Dover International Speedway. It is the first top-five finish for GMS Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS).

The makeup of a good team is not only shown on the good days, but those when the cards dealt are against your favor. Joey Coulter and the No. 21 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet faced handling issues throughout the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, but still managed to cross the finish in the 12th position.

“Racing at Charlotte is always nice because you get to stay at your house instead of a hotel and a lot of the guys at the shop and crew member’s families get to come to the track and see what we do on the road each weekend. We tested at Charlotte a couple weeks ago and learned a few things to apply to our Allegiant Travel Chevrolet once we hit the track on Thursday. My GMS Racing team has brought fast Silverados to the track each week so far this year, but we just haven’t had the finishes to show for it. I think we have a great chance to run strong on Friday night.”

Before the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season began in February, Joey Coulter circled Friday nights race at Kansas Speedway on his calendar. Coming off three strong performances in his previous Truck Series events at the Midwest track, Coulter continued his impressive streak once again as the No. 21 Vertx Chevrolet finished in the 12th position.

As Coulter embarks on his fourth full season in the Truck Series, the 23-year-old does so with a new team and crew chief. GMS Racing tapped Coulter to drive the No. 21 Chevrolet when the Charlotte, N.C. based team decided to compete full-time in the Truck Series. On top of Coulter’s pit box will be crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz. The pair worked together for the first time at the open test session in January.
