SFP 250 at Kansas Speedway Race Preview

5/7/2014 SFP 250 at Kansas Speedway Race Preview

KANSAS SUCCESS: Joey Coulter returns to Kansas Speedway for the fourth time in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series career. In his three previous starts, Coulter has two top-five finishes and completed 99.8% of laps contended. Coulter’s career-best finish at the 1.5-mile track came one year ago in the spring of 2013, when the driver finished second. Also, Coulter has raced twice at the Midwest track in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, where he tallied two top-10 finishes.

NEW SPONSOR ON BOARD: Vertx®, a tactical clothing company, has joined GMS Racing as a partner for the 2014 season. Vertx® will serve as primary sponsor for Coulter and the No. 21 Chevrolet Silverado team at Kansas Speedway. In addition, Vertx®, the “Official Tactical Clothing Supplier of GMS Racing,” will be an associate sponsor on all GMS entries in the Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series for the remainder of the 2014 season.

ROLE REVERSE: During the break in Truck Series action, Coulter reversed roles and spotted at the ARCA Racing Series events at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. In Salem, Coulter helped GMS Racing teammate Spencer Gallagher to a second-place finish and one week ago in Talladega, the 23-year-old guided rookie Scott Sheldon to a top-15 performance.

CHASSIS INFORMATION: GMS Racing will bring Chassis No. 022 to Kansas Speedway. This is the same chassis Ty Dillon drove last fall during the Truck Series event at the Kansas City track. Dillon crossed the finish line in eighth-place.

MARTINSVILLE RECAP: One month ago during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, Coulter started the Kroger 250 from the 18th position. After running inside the top-15 for the majority of the event, Coulter was shuffled into the outside lane on a restart with three laps remaining. The No. 21 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet finished in 17th-place.

MEET JOEY: Coulter and teammate Spencer Gallagher will visit the Team Chevy stage in the Midway at Kansas Speedway on Friday, May 9 at 2:20PM CT. Both GMS Racing drivers will host a question and answer session before signing autographs for the fans. Special Vertx prizes will be given out to lucky winners.

Joey Coulter on racing at Kansas Speedway: “I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel this week. I’ve been at the track the past few weekends spotting for my teammates, but I love being in the driver’s seat. Kansas has been one of those tracks that I’ve had a lot of success at so I can’t wait to take my No. 21 Vertx® Chevrolet to the front of the field. Many thanks to Vertx® for joining GMS Racing and hopefully we can get their colors to Victory Lane on Friday night.”
