Phillip Daniel Group adds NASCAR's Joey Coulter
"Charlotte, NC (February 12, 2015): Phillip Daniel Group (PDG) is pleased to announce the addition of NASCAR veteran Joey Coulter to their client roster. Coulter, currently the Team Relationships Manager at GMS Racing, is still actively racing with his family owned late model team, Coulter Motorsports, and looking to continue the growth of his brand CIV.

Coulter, 24, has spent the last four seasons racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTWS) and the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS). Driving for Richard Childress Racing (2011, 2012) and Kyle Busch Motorsports (2013), he finished in the top-10 in the NCTWS points twice, with a career-high point standings finish of 3rd in 2012. He has one career win, coming at Pocono Raceway (PA) and a total of 43 top-10 along with 19 top-5 finishes. 2014 saw Coulter pilot the No. 21 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet Silverado in the NCWTS for GMS Racing. He scored three top-5 finishes, and ten top-10 finishes in route to a 7th place finish in the series point standings.
Coulter made his NXS debut in 2012 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) where he finished 10th. He has made 5 NXS starts since 2012 with an average start of 13.4 and an average finish of 15.2.
Due to a lack of sponsorship the Miami Springs, Florida native finds himself trading his driver's seat for an active role in the daily operations and responsibilities of GMS Racing based out of Statesville, NC. Coulter still has a desire to drive. He continues to run both asphalt and dirt venues in late model competition.
Coulter plans to take his family-owned dirt and asphalt teams to the winners circle this year. His full schedule is still being finalized, but he plans on running several of the Carolina Clash events, as well as the Spring Nationals events.
His job as Team Relationships Coordinator at GMS Racing is not his first experience in a leadership role. He currently operates the Joey Coulter Pro-Truck Series in Florida. Coulter remains active in all aspects of the series. For more information on Coulter's Pro-Truck Series please "like" the series page on Facebook.
In addition to his leadership roles within Motorsports as well as his driving duties, Coulter holds an annual charity event, "Joey Coulter's Karting Challenge," at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, NC. Last year's event raised more than $20,000 and gave the gift of mobility to three-year-old McKenzie, who suffers from cerebral palsy. Coulter works, in partnership with the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, to put on the event.
The Darrell Gwynn Foundation (DGF) was founded by ex-NHRA driver Darrell Gwynn, who was involved in a horrific drag racing accident in England in 1990. The accident left him paralyzed and without his left arm. In 2002, he began the DGF with a mission of supporting paralysis victims while also helping to educate the public and hopefully prevent accidents that cause paralysis to their victims.
Since its inception 13 years ago, the DGF has been able to gift 273 wheelchairs to deserving people who could not purchase them on their own. They also have helped educate over 88,000 people about spinal cord injuries and how to prevent them. Motorized wheelchairs can cost anywhere between $6,000 and $40,000 depending on the needs of the user. DGF provides hope for families who cannot afford a chair on their own and have been denied by their insurance company to cover the cost. For more information on the DGF, please visit their website.
The event is a two-hour endurance kart race featuring 22 multiperson teams that consist of NASCAR drivers and personalities. Fans are invited to attended the event and cheer on their favorite driver, as well as take part in a silent auction. This year's event will take place during Charlotte race week onWednesday, October 7, 2015.
Coulter is currently finishing his business degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
"It is unfortunate that a lack of sponsorship is keeping me out of a NASCAR seat. However, there is a silver lining to the situation," Coulter said. "Along with having the opportunity to help grow GMS Racing from a leadership role, this year I will be able to concentrate on my families race teams with more attention than ever before. My partnership with PDG is a direct result of that increased attention. Phillip and his team provide enthusiasm, passion, and a new look to a system that has been in place for decades. Driving has and always will be my greatest passion. I believe Phillip and his team have a great opportunity to help translate that passion back into reality and together we can have a tremendous impact on motorsports."
Together, PDG and Coulter are actively reinvigorating the CIV brand and working together with his family owned late model team. To learn more about Coulter, please visit his website, "like" him on Facebook, and follow him on Twitter.
