Joey Coulter Scores First Dirt Late Model Win in Second Career Start

3/19/2012 Joey Coulter Scores First Dirt Late Model Win in Second Career Start

Joey Coulter, piloting his No. 2 Wolf-Pack Racing Chevrolet Pro Dirt Late Model in the Fastrack Racing Series, captured his first career dirt late model victory Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway.

The 21-year-old Coulter, who drives full time for Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, began his dirt late model career just a few-short months ago after joining the esteemed team at Wolf-Pack Racing. Under the veteran tutelage of crew chief Danny Myers, Coulter has spent much of his sparse spare time testing his new Wolf-Pack Racing built Rocket Chassis.

His first career start came at Screven Motor Speedway exceeding all expectations as he wheeled his way to a 10th-place finish. After missing the field at Carolina Speedway, the Miami Springs, Fla., native had a newfound vengeance heading into Bulls Gap, Tenn’s Volunteer Speedway.

Qualifying third out of the impressive 23-car field for the 30-lap feature, Coulter set in to follow the veterans and continue to learn the ever-changing dirt surface. Closely tailing the leaders in third-place for most of the race, Coulter overtook the lead on Lap 22 and never looked back. He crossed the finish line in his No. 2 Wolf-Pack Racing Chevrolet on Lap 30 to capture his first career victory in a dirt late model in only his second start.
