Coulter Wins at Cherokee5/14/2015
Charlotte, NC (May 14, 2015) - Every driver wants to spend their Saturday night in victory lane and this past Saturday Joey "CIV" Coulter had two chances to do just that. He succeeded on his second try and took his SECA Crate Late Model for Rum Runner Racing to victory lane for the first time at Cherokee Speedway.
CIV's night kicked off with a tenth place finish in the Carolina Clash Super Late Model event. He started the race in sixth but his track position worked against him and they did not make aggressive enough adjustments after qualifying but he clearly learned from his time in his super at the new track.
CIV picked up the pole at Cherokee Speedway he made his first start at the track. This was only his second start with the SECA Crate Late Model series but it was his second pole with the series(his first coming at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC). He never fell back further than third during the race and drove away from the field for the win.
"What a great weekend overall for everyone here at Rum Runner Racing. Of course we wanted the super race to go a little better, but I picked up a lot about the track during that 40 lap feature that set me up great for the crate race. Our win was a total team effort and I can't thank everyone enough for all of their hard work. We have all been working on our cars really hard and I think it is starting to show. Rum Runner Racing is a serious team and we are focused on winning. Saturday was just the start of what we are looking to do in the sport. Again, thank you everyone at Rum Runner Racing, Harold, Donnie, Kyle, Tom, Robbie, and Michael. A special thanks to our team owner, Mom Susan, Dad Joe, and my wife Jessica for all of the support at and away from the track. Also thank you Danny and Karl for your support at the track," said CIV.
The next race for CIV will be another double duty event at Virginia Motor Speedway this weekend. The gates open at 3 p.m. and racing will start at 6 p.m. with hot laps.
