The No. 13 can be lucky in “Sin City” if you are playing roulette and your chips are riding on the odd numbered black space down the middle of the board. However, Joey Coulter, driver of the No. 18 GunBroker.com Toyota Tundra had his chips on a different number for the 17th race on the 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event. After starting 14th, 13 positions behind his 2012 start, Coulter ran as high as second and settled for an “unlucky” 13th-place finish in Saturday’s Smith’s 350 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. The Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) driver remains 13th in the 2013 driver point standings.

With only six races remaining on the 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule, the Miami Springs, Fla. native knows he has nothing to lose and will do what it takes – even gamble – to add another “W” to the column after Saturday night’s Smith’s 350 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.

After starting sixth - his career-best NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start in five races, Joey Coulter was forced to the back of the field for the 146-lap event for "unapproved adjustment's" following qualifying. Running as high as fifth, the NNS rookie would take a late-race tire gamble and settle for an 18th-place finish in the "Bluegrass State."

“I’m excited for the opportunity to get back in one of the Joe Gibbs Racing Nationwide cars this weekend at Kentucky. I learned a lot from Adam (Stevens, crew chief) when I was in the 54 at Talladega and Chicago earlier this year and I’m looking forward to that continued growth with Matt (Lucas) and the 18 team this weekend. JGR has had some success throughout the year with Matt (Kenseth) in that car and I hope to put what I learned from the first two races together and produce solid results in the third one for everyone at JGR and most importantly Freightliner.”

Although Friday night’s EnjoyIllinois.com 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race fell on one of two Friday the 13th’s in 2013, Joey Coulter, driver of the No. 18 Darrell Gwynn Foundation Toyota Tundra, was optimistic entering the 16th race on the schedule. Following a solid sixth-place qualifying effort – his sixth top-10 start in 2013 – the Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) driver was handicapped just prior to the halfway mark in the 150-lap event, when his No. 18 Toyota Tundra ran out of fuel on the backstretch. Forced to pit under green, a culmination of events never allowed Coulter to gain track position and the KBM team was relegated to a 23rd-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill..

Friday the 13th has foreboding reputations dating back from ancient times. There are two such occurrences in 2013 and Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) EnjoyIllinois.com 225 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill. is one of them. The second infamous “Friday the 13th” is in December and the two such occurrences happen to be 13 weeks apart. Why is Friday the 13th considered one of the unluckiest days on the calendar" Well, the superstition does have deep, compelling roots in Western Culture, but stems from two separate fears – the fear of the number 13 and the fear of Friday’s.

If it weren’t for Joey Coulter’s bad luck, he may not have any luck at all. After a 17th-place qualifying effort and going a lap down to the race leader prior to the half-way point in the 200-lap event, the No. 18 Darrell Gwynn Foundation Toyota Tundra was on the fast track to a top-10 finish in the closing laps of the Fan Appreciation 200 when a late race accident with the No. 62 machine of Brendan Gaughan sent him hard into the Turn 1 wall, relegating the Kyle Busch Motorsports driver to a 25th-place finish at Iowa Speedway - his first DNF of the 2013 season.

After a dismal weekend north of the border, Joey Coulter would like nothing more than to rebound from last Sunday’s 26th-place finish in the Inaugural Truck Series event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and harvest another solid finish at Iowa Speedway in Newton – a track he considers his favorite.

The 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season has been a year of firsts and this weekend’s Inaugural Truck Series 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Canada was no different. For the first time in its 18-year history the Truck Series went abroad to Canada – marking their first appearance on a road course in 13 years. The 2.459-mile, 10-turn road course was a historic event for the 30-truck field and one that Joey Coulter and his No. 18 Monster Energy team would like to put in the history books.
