P3 Finish for CIV in Asphalt World Series Tour Mod Opening Night

2/13/2023 P3 Finish for CIV in Asphalt World Series Tour Mod Opening Night

Troutman, NC - Speedweek at New Smyrna Speedway is one of the most timeless traditions in grassroots racing. In it’s 57th year this year, the best of the best come out to see who can claim the championship in their respective classes.

After a trying Whelen Modified Tour finish on Saturday, Rum Runner Racing’s Joey Coulter, did what he does best, learned from it and turned it into a 3rd place finish on night 1 of the Tour Mod World Series of Asphalt. The touring mods run 5 races in a row before crowning their champion.

Coulter started from the 8th position and quickly moved into 4th place with the strategic use of the restarts he was given due to cautions early in the race. He ran in 4th place most of the evening until a late race caution allowed him to pass Modified veteran Eric Goodale for the 3rd place position.

His experience with tire conservation and restarts allowed him to make the late race move on lap 47. Coulter has proven yet again that he is a force to be reckoned with behind the wheel of a modified.

When asked about his run tonight, Coulter had the following to say, “Overall just a great day for the rum runner racing team. We learned a lot coming out of the tour race and the couple rounds of practice we got on Sunday plus Monday morning practice. We were able to make some really positive changes on the car gave us a lot of long run speed and some good qualifying speed as well which has been a struggle for us so it was great to start up front stay there most of the night and then end up on the podium. Just want to thank all of our partners that help us get here and support us while we're running this entire week.”

Coulter would like to extend another thank you to his 2023 partners and hopes to take them to victory lane again this year: SRI Performance, PFC Brakes, Draco Springs, AIRSHOK, Race-Fan, Molecule, DriveRefine, Simpson, Stilo, Wiles Driveshafts, Torch Eyewear, Earnhardt Technology Group, Fury Racecars, Hellraizer Jacks, Buzze Racing, and Dirt Wrap.
