Coulter Fit to Wear Kings Crown in Carolina

(October 13, 2016 Troutman, NC)- This weekend marks a race that World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series Rookie of the Year contender, Joey Coulter (CIV) has been waiting on all year. The 4th Annual King of the Carolinas, takes place this weekend at Carolina Speedway.
Last year, CIV set fast time in Carolina Clash Series qualifying and went on to lead the majority of the race in dominating fashion. With less than 10 laps to go, Coulter suffered a water pump failure, that took his Rum Runner Racing, Rocket Chassis out of the race. Coulter had this to say about last year’s King of the Carolinas weekend.

“Everything about that weekend, well except for the last eight laps, was great. We had made a lot of progress throughout the year and finally got to roll it all into one package. The car was fast, and the stopwatch showed it. Once I got the lead back after a few laps, I knew we had a really good shot a taking home the crown. When the water pump failed and hurt the motor, I was devastated. We had that race won.”

This season Coulter hasn’t run in the Carolinas as much as the year prior, due to the busy World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series schedule. The WoO Tour did make an appearance at the Carolina Speedway back in April, where Coulter again was fast, and again had issues taking him out of the feature early. Since that weekend, Coulter and Crew Chief Harold Holly have kept pushing forward, getting the Rum Runner Racing, XR-1 Rockets faster every race.

“We have constantly made progress this season. That is what we were really looking for on the WoO Tour. Getting to race with the best in the business really makes you push hard, even at tracks like Carolina where I had a lot of laps. I think we are in a great position to win the crown this year and be the King of the Carolinas.” -Joey Coutler-

There are only a few races left on the schedule for CIV and Rum Runner Racing, including the Bad Boy Buggies World Finals at the end of October. With that in mind, the team is looking to capitalize on the events remaining and finish strong going into the off season.
